South East Asia One Health University Network Global Health Institute Training Program

(SEAOHUN-GHI Training) is a comprehensive short course aimed at developing essential

One Health Leadership skills and competencies. The program offers a great opportunity for

interdisciplinary collaboration to address challenges occurring among human and animal

health and environment sectors. The intensive training program is designed to foster

collective action between all st akeholders and to promote the creation of a network of skilled

and experienced One Health practitioners in SEAOHUN member countries

comprising Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, SEAOHUN expansion country Myanmar, and Lower Mekong countries including Cambodia and Lao PDR.

The SEAOHUN-GHI training program focuses on developing One Health leadership and technical skills capacity, as both are critical elements in transforming the current and future workforce to ensure preparedness for new and emerging public health challenges. During the workshop, the challenge of antimicrobial resistance as a global health issue will be a key topic of study in a bid to illustrate the need for enhancing the One Health approach and skills.

objectives

·      To define and identify key concepts and different elements of One Health and One Health Leadership

·      To deepen understanding of the grand challenges comprising complex, multi-factorial, systemic issues emerging at the convergence of public health, animal health, economic development and environmental health

·      To develop key leadership skills essential for catalyzing collective action including organizational communication, working across boundaries, influence, vision and strategic thinking, result and change orientation

To use leadership competencies for working with a diverse group of people and addressing challenges and opportunities of global issues such as food security and emerging infectious diseases, etc.
