One Health Social Sciences (OHSS) Webinar! " Wildlife trade: the social, cultural, and political stakes " Thu, Apr 30, 2020 10:00 PM - 11:30 PM ICT

As the potential breeding ground for the current worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, #epidemiologists, public health officials, and wildlife conservationists have called for shutting down these markets. However, as a central means of sustenance for many communities around the world, the full impacts of closing the markets and necessary strategies to address them will be addressed.

This webinar joins two experts in zoonotic epidemics in an interdisciplinary dialogue about the social, cultural, and political stakes of eliminating the #wildlife trade and, in particular, the role of “wet markets”.

Prof. Laura H. Kahn Physician and research scholar with the Program on Science and Global Security at Princeton University, USA Prof. Christos Lynteris Medical anthropologist specialized in global health and zoonoses and senior lecturer at the University of Saint Andrews, Scotland.
